Ready for Chemo

Hey everyone. I’m doing pretty good this far. A lot has happened in the last few days. I will be starting chemotherapy this Monday at Valley View Hospital in Ada. I will be in the hospital for about 3 or 4 days. Then I’ll have a few days off at home before going back to the hospital for another round. Yesterday I had a pic line put in my arm. It’s a very flexible tube that goes into a vein in my arm where they would normally give an IV. The line goes through my vein all the way to my chest where it ends at one of my main blood lines. This allows for the medicine to be distributed quickly and evenly. Out of my arm is a small blue line that splits into two “ports.” This allows them to give me two things at once. They can also draw blood from this line too. This just keeps me from having to be poked all the time with needles and stuff since they will be checking my blood very often. Basically my whole forearm is strapped down with tubes, but I have this cotton sleeve to cover it all up. The dressing around where the tube goes into my arm itches like crazy sometimes, but otherwise it’s not uncomfortable. I have to wrap it well with plastic wrap to shower. Haha. We will see how that goes. I’ve been having some pain trouble, but I got some strong meds to help me out. My doctors said I should have noticeable pain relief after this first round of chemo. Well that’s all I got for now. Take care everyone.
